2013 Season - Week 18

BUMS Wildcard Weekend

Two years ago David Stamp shocked the world as his 16th seeded Wellington Windy Bums defeated the number 1 seed, Langley Raptors. This week he repeated the feet as he beat record setting Marcus, the Aotearoa Maori Bro’s downing Phoenix Fire Warriors 27-7. Langley, Underachieving and Tring all went through on byes as Brockley, Misunderstood and Leamington didn’t supply teams. In the closest game of the week Aaron played all his team on Saturday and outlasted last years BUMSBowl champion Andy H by 8 points. Cheryl defeated Mark 29-18 and Ron beat John 34-21. Number 10 seed Wayne provided the other upset as he beat 7 seed Johnnie 33-12. In the draft order tie breakers Andy H outscored AP by 1 point so Andy H picks third and AP fourth, while a lack of a Leamington Spartans team means Aaron will pick 13th and Craig 14th. The best Wildcard team you could have selected would have scored 62 points for just $5m, so why didn’t you play Andrew Luck (18pts) at QB, Kicker Ryan Succop (14pts), RBs Donald Brown (12pts) and Danny Woodhead (6pts) and wide receiver Riley Cooper (6pts) plus 1 of Receivers Dwayne Bowe, Lance Moore or Vernon Davis(all 6 each for 1m). But you didn’t so the Divisional round is Gareth (2) v David S (16), Aaron (3) plays AP (13), Cheryl (5) takes on Wayne (10) and Ron (6) hosts Daz (8). Teams to me by 10am Saturday please. NFL Wildcard Weekend Saturday saw two cracking games as Indianapolis came back from 38-10 down to beat Kansas City outscoring them 35-6 in the last 26 minutes. Then New Orleans new kicker Shane Graham made a 32 yard field goal as time expired to lead the Saints to their first ever road playoff win 26-24 over Philadelphia. On Sunday San Diego shut out Cincinnati in the second half to win 27-10 and in similar fashion to the Saints win, San Francisco kicker Phil Dawson scored as time expired to lead the 49ers past Green Bay 23-20. So it’s Indianapolis @ New England & San Diego @ Denver in the AFC and San Francisco @ Carolina & New Orleans @ Seattle in the Divisional round. BUMS on Seats We will meet at HQ from 9:30pm on Saturday night for New Orleans visit to Seattle. The second game (Indianapolis @ New England) kicks off at 1am Sunday morning & we will watch this on Sunday from 5pm at BUMS HQ followed at around 7pm by San Francisco @ Carolina. We will be at Johnnies on Monday from 6pm for the second Sunday game San Diego @ Denver. As always all are welcome just let the hosts know.
